In Unlucky Break, you take on the role of Maestro, the leader of the Slippery Seven. Take down guards and reunite with members of your crew as you progress through the story. Evade the clutches of warden Blanc and escape the prison no matter the cost.
Contributions
- Designed Mechanics for Turn-Based Combat System: Including Targeting, Critical & Evade System, Frontlines & Sidelines, and Swapping
- Designed Game Progression, Character Stat Upgrading, and Weapon Progression
- Programmed All Combat System Mechanics, & Player Interaction
- Programmed Damage Number & Event Popups, as well as Limited Animations
- Balanced Character Stats and Difficulty Curve Across Game Levels Using Spreadsheet and Playtesting.
What I learned
- For projects with a fast and strict deadline—such as a game jam—develop so that there is always a working product to turn in, rather than relying on many pieces coming together at the last minute.
- Leave ample time for playtesting toward the end of development. Playtest with people outside of the team if possible, to see which parts of the game may be unclear.
- Develop a game’s mechanics in collaboration with the art and tone, so that it feels cohesive.
