Software Engineer Intern



(The project I worked on has not been announced yet, so I have to keep my mouth shut for now 🤐, but I’ll update after it’s been released.)
My Role
As part of AAA studio’s Game Engine Team (KoreTech), I contributed to the development of the studio’s next franchise fighting game by supporting artists and gameplay programmers.
Some of the things I developed Include:
- Tools within Unreal Engine 5 to enhance artists’ capabilities and improve their workflows
- Low level system compatibility tests and controller functionality
- Automated build processing and automated game tests for large scale studio work
- Custom lighting systems
What I learned
- I learned the processes and systems that prop up a AAA titles’ development
- I learned how to leverage source control to drive projects forward and keep team members apprised of development status
- I honed my code quality through collaboration and code reviews with experienced developers
- I learned how to assess, prioritize, and meet the needs of different disciplines to develop useful tools
